I totally judge books by their covers. I know it’s not just me! My mother-in-law read it while she was visiting. Even though I gave her a whole stack of books that I had finished to read, this one was the book she chose out of the books I hadn’t read yet. She has great taste! It’s gotta be the cross. Just look at it! That cross is a prominent and visually startling feature of the cover. The Reasondoes not disappoint, either, because the cross is a pivotal aspect of the book.
The characters in The Reason are captivating. I enjoyed the way that the story revolved around a few central characters but seemed to swirl around some extra ones, too. Set in a small town, you would almost imagine this to be a tv show or movie script. It’s just one of those books that absorbed my attention right away. Although at first I thought the book would be predictable, it ended up surprising me in many ways. For one thing, I didn’t expect to be so emotionally moved by this story. The supernatural features of the plot were a little far-fetched yet who can know the nature of God’s ways? The Reason just gave me a great reminder of the power of the Holy Spirit.
If you’re looking for some inspiration and fresh hope for 2013, why not pick up a copy of The Reason?
