Last weekend we stayed at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park campground in Limestone, Tennessee. It’s located near Greeneville, TN. There is a beautiful river just inside the campground where you can wander on a trail, do some fishing, or just enjoy the serenity from a bench. On the day of our arrival, we had a funny sight in store! My kids loved watching the cows play in the water.
Most of the campsites have full hookups including sewer, which is unusual for the state parks around here. It’s one of the reasons I like to go there! The campsites are small but clean. If you stay along the first row, you’ll have a nice grassy area to sit at your picnic table. The middle rows also have a table, but it’s much more cramped. The riverside row spots are the premium sites.
The bathhouses are very nicely arranged in the campground, as well as the pet clean-up areas. At the main office, there’s a large sandbox for the kids. In the evenings on many weekends, the staff shows a movie and offers free popcorn.
My kids enjoy this park because the roads are paved, making it great for bike riding. There’s a great playground just inside the park, and a swimming pool that’s open during the summer. If you’re interested in the historic features, walk through the birthplace area to see Crockett’s monument, a mock homestead, and sometimes living history characters. It’s a great way to spend a Saturday.
If you’re in the Greeneville, TN area, stop by Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park. I think you’ll enjoy it!
The living history sounds awesome. I think I’ll pass on the cows though! 😀
I love history! Hubby and I really want to purchase an RV and this park sounds amazing! Thanks for the heads up…I’ll save it for the future.

I’ve never been to the Greeneville, TN area, so I’ve not been to Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park. It does sound so nice, and I love that it has some creature comforts to make it not so roughing it!
I’ve been to TN several times, but I’ve never been to the Greeneville area and honestly didn’t know that Davy Crockett’s birthplace was there. I definitely will plan to visit next time I’m in the area. I love visiting historical sights like this. TN is such a beautiful state.
Looks like a nice park!
