Esther book review + Giveaway - enter at savingsinseconds.com #LuckyMarch

Some might have said that Esther was lucky.

Born as a Jewish girl and raised by her cousins, she was neither affluent nor likely to change the world.  When she was chosen to be one of the king’s women, many might have considered this the moment she’d been waiting for.  But God had other plans.

You’ve never heard Esther’s story like this before!

Angela Hunt is an amazing author. I’m still haunted by her book The Offering, which I read 2 years ago.  A friend just loaned me her book The Note which I’m anxious to start reading.  So when I saw that Esther was written by Hunt, I couldn’t wait to tear into it!  Esther’s story always inspires me.  She was an unlikely candidate to move Xerxes’ spirit, but with God’s help and meticulous planning, she was able to change the fate of her people.

Hunt delivers a magnificent story in this version of Esther.  We get to see Esther’s hopes and dreams as a teen, then watch her grow into a devastating beauty. Her sharp mind quickly overcomes her vanity; no wonder Xerxes found her to be so appealing.  Hunt contrasts Esther’s point of view with that of a eunuch (again with that juxtaposition!)  It’s amazing how the story works, but it does.   The hidden treachery behind the politics of Persian government is carefully revealed piece by piece.   I am so looking forward to the rest of this series!
