For me, paradise is a night off kitchen duty. Cooking meals for my family is a privilege that I generally enjoy. Still, there are some nights when I just want to throw in the towel and have someone else do all the work. The new Pizzeria pizzas from DiGiorno do just that. Our family never considered “pizza night” to include frozen pizza. We’re not really pizza snobs, we just have a standard of pizza that must be upheld for family pizza night. I’m here to tell you, folks, that pizzeria!™ from DIGIORNO is our new standard of pizza excellence. Just look at this photo and tell me it doesn’t make your mouth water.
Yep. That’s what I thought.
Since we’re on a budget for both time and money, we try to eat homecooked meals. Eating out at restaurants not only costs a bundle but it sometimes takes up valuable family time. With our busy school year approaching, I’m definitely looking for ways to eat at home and somehow keep my sanity at the same time. I think this is the answer for me. Since DiGiorno did all the hard work and all I have to do is turn on the oven, I get to have a night off of cooking. Sounds good to me!

Now, let me share our pizzeria experience with you. There are four flavors of the new pizzeria-style pizzas. Our local store carried the pepperoni variety. That was fine with me because I knew my kids would like it. Here’s what our pizza looked like when we got it out of the box. I loved this easy-peel wrap. See, I knew DiGiorno would make this easy for me.
The pizza was generously topped with pepperoni, cheese, and even herbs. I was especially surprised by the crust. It is preservative-free and was already quite thick straight from the package. The crust is drizzled with olive oil and is deliciously crusty on the outside, yet soft inside. It had a great texture to it even before cooking, not at all like the frozen pizzas I’m used to keeping in the house. It’s hard to describe, but if you’ve ever felt that “cardboard” crust pizza, you know what I mean.
The key to the new pizzeria!™ pizza is to bake it directly on the oven rack. I’m unaccustomed to doing this and was afraid that the toppings or sauce would bubble over onto my oven’s floor. I preheated the oven then used the wooden pizza peel to place the pizza on the rack.
While the pizza baked, I took a few moments to find my paradise in my recliner. Curled up with a good book and a blanket, I let the oven do its work for 20 minutes. I probably should have checked it in 18 minutes as the box suggested because my pizza came out a little more brown than normal. Still, doesn’t it look AMAZING for a frozen pizza?!
Let me assure you that my family wasted no time on this pizza. I sliced it into 8 pieces and served my kids first, then my husband came by and grabbed a couple of slices. Now, I normally don’t get to eat with the family because by the time I finally fill my own plate, everyone’s finished eating. In this case, I enjoyed the last slice of pizza with the rest of my crew because they were all having seconds. My 4 year old son, who NEVER eats two slices of pizza, asked for seconds. The sauce on this pizza was so delicious. It tasted like a homemade sauce. LOVED it. The pepperonis were spicy and flavorful. I was impressed by the crust of the pizza, too. Remember how I told you about that olive oil? It gave the crust such a nice crunch. Serve this with a little dish of marinara on the side and you can really savor those last crusty bites! This would be great for a date-night-in, which my husband and I often do because we never get a babysitter. On this special night, Mama got to have a night off cooking and got to enjoy a meal with the family. That’s definitely my idea of paradise.
