For most of my life as a Christian woman, the Holy Ghost has felt as elusive as any other ghost. While I might sense a twitch of my conscience and attribute it to the Holy Ghost, I’ve never really prayed TO him before. And yes, I said him. That’s because I watched this DVD called “Holy Ghost” from Wonderlust Productions. For me, the Holy Ghost will never again be an ambiguous figure in my life. If you’re looking for something really amazing to watch, mark your calendar for September 6. That’s the FREE premiere of this amazing story.
Enjoying books about real life miracles and expecting them to happen are two different things. I suppose I’ve been more of a doubting Thomas. Sure, I might utter a prayer or even a heartfelt plea to God, but I’m sure that to Him it sounds like a canned prayer when my heart still holds onto my doubt. The Holy Ghost video follows a team of charismatic Christians all over their adventures while they demonstrate their faith in action. They meet strangers on the street and call upon the Holy Ghost to heal the strangers’ ailments and other personal issues. While it sounds far-fetched and almost like a candid camera scenario, the video was really interesting. There were some scenes that showed a definitely genuine reaction from the strangers! There were some nuances to the situations that caused me to ponder my own walk. For example, as previously mentioned, the praying team called the Holy Spirit a “him” as if “he” was a walking, talking human being standing right in their midst. At first this caused me to pause, but after thinking on it for a little while it made sense. After all, I’ve believed that the Holy Spirit was in my heart all this time!! Why not recognize “him” as a real being?! The DVD definitely forced me to think outside my rigid Christian box. Parts of the video was way too far-fetched for my traditional mindset. Can I move beyond that to accept the unexplainable? Walking in faith is the only way to say yes.
Let’s talk about the term “Holy Ghost.” The only time I’ve really thought about “him” as that name would be during church when I was growing up. We went to an old-fashioned church and sang the Doxology. Apparently this is an older name for the Holy Spirit. Who knew?! The scenery in the movie is absolutely stunning. If you don’t watch the video for any other reason, appreciate its cinematographic value! The locations were visually breathtaking. The general premise of the story, as in the Holy Ghost leading the video team, was quite fascinating. I’ve often felt led or called to do something in the name of God before. While it could be something as small as praying for a friend, or calling someone after feeling a tug on my heart, or even making a donation based on a feeling that I needed to do it — the push of the Holy Ghost is gentle at first but persistent. I understood this from the movie but haven’t done anything drastic (like fly to India!) in response to such conviction. The movie features big names such as Lenny Kravitz and Michael W. Smith!
Even if I don’t agree with all of the theology behind the Holy Ghost DVD, I can really get behind the call to action. As with any spiritually-themed DVD, it’s a great jumping off point for families. Take the time to watch the trailer, or even the full-length movie with your kids. Help them learn to recognize the voice of the Holy Ghost. Above all, develop the sense of wonder that we have a God who never leaves our side.
Sounds interesting and intriguing. Not sure how I feel about it, but I would watch with my family
I would watch this movie with my older daughters ( adult ages).
