Oh how my feet love to be bare in the summer. The warmth of the sun on my toes is a small gift each day. We spend much of our time out by the pool and anything but sandals just doesn’t make sense! Each year I find a new pair or two that become that season’s favorite.  Recently I had the chance to try a new pair from American Apparel. Did you know that they have shoes? I didn’t! I’m familiar with American Apparel because it is used by many custom-clothing brands. The style I received was the Jerusalem sandal.

The first thing I noticed about these shoes was the variation in shading on the shoes. They seemed more artisan because of this beautiful discoloration. The shoes are sewn rather than glued along the edges of the sole, which gives them a high-quality look.

At the ankle, I found the strap to be very generously sized. I had to buckle it on the smallest setting and I don’t have skinny ankles! In fact, the shoes seemed to run on the large side overall. I normally wear size 7 1/2 but have known American Apparel to run small (at least in the clothing line.).  The Jerusalem sandals, however, are quite true to size or even a little big. I should have sized down instead. These have become my go-to sandals for wearing to work or church because they’re a step up from flip-flops while still being the light summery feel I want.  Lots of compliments have been pouring my way whenever I wear them.  I’d love to get the strap-version next time.  What are your feet wearing this summer?
