Napping on Sunday afternoons……

Today is a really unexpected snow day for our school system.  I’m enjoying being in my jammies and not having to go out in the cold.  It feels almost like a lazy Sunday afternoon!   What does your family like to do on Sunday afternoons?    When I was a kid, I really loved watching weekend morning cartoons. Check out Sunday Morning Rewind to revive some of the best 80’s cartoons!   These were the pre-VCR and DVD days so weekends were just about the only days we could watch our favorite cartoons.  It’s crazy how much times have changed; my kids can now watch Netflix on their own devices!

Our church starts pretty late in the morning, so we have several hours to enjoy being together before we head off to worship.  When we get home, we usually have a little bite of lunch and then everyone heads off for a nap.  Now that I’m inching closer to 40, napping has become one of my FAVORITE things to do on Sunday.  In the wintertime especially, I relax so much more in the afternoons.  I wake up refreshed and start on supper while the kids watch TV or play together.  To help make my naptime a little more relaxing, I really love spritzing a bit of this Lavender Mist on my pillow before laying down.  My kids even ask for it!  My college roommate sent me a bottle of this last year and it’s lasted us for months.  It’s just the most soothing, nurturing scent….sigh.  I feel more relaxed just thinking about it.  Once this is on my pillow, I cuddle up with a warm, soft blanket and take a little snooze.   When I get up, I feel so refreshed and relaxed that the rest of the day is just happiness.

What’s your Sunday afternoon ritual?

  1. Sundays are our reflection and cleaning days. We head to church in the morning, enjoy donuts with our friends in the hall, then head home to get ready for the next week.

  4. We started a family tradition this year. Every Sunday we go tech-free, the whole family. Cell phones are turned off, no TV, computer or ipad while the kids are awake. It has been so amazing as a family to focus on each other, and I look forward to unplugging every week!
