On My Bookshelf: Mask of the Lost Kings

Wow. All I can say is wow.

Oh, you know me better than that.  I can always say more.

Masks of the Lost Kings is a way cool historical fiction novel that whips you around the globe visiting landmarks. In a race against time to find treasure and avoid danger, the characters must decide who is on their side.  I enjoyed reading the history and myths.  I even wanted to look up what I read to see if the information was true.  There were more than enough twists and turns in the story to keep my interest.  Anytime a book starts with a human sacrifice you know you’re in for a wild ride!   Because of a few mild expletives, I would not recommend this to middle schoolers unless they are pretty mature.  It might be a good read aloud choice if you can skim over those parts.    This is a great book to take along on a plane ride or another time when you’ll be confined and have a while to read—because believe me, you won’t want to put this one down!

Author Tom Bane visited these locations when researching for his novel.  It’s very evident in the book—-he writes in such a way that you can visualize the scene as if you’re there.    This is one of those books that will be on my bookshelf for a long time, so I can read it over and over.

Thanks for the review. I’m not much into historical fiction but it’s good to know the author did his research prior to writing.
