On My Bookshelf: My Friend Paris books

I had the chance to review the My Friend Paris books written by author Paris Morris.   The first book we read was Paris Goes to Lake Tahoe.

The entire story is focused on spending family time together at Lake Tahoe.   No mention of TV, iPods, or any other technology….just good outdoor fun.  Do you remember the last time that you did that with your kids?   My Friend Paris might get your children interested in such an outing!

Next we read Paris Goes to San Francisco.  This time Paris goes shopping in the city and explores all the sights and sounds of San Francisco.  This was a great introduction to landmarks and the culture of a new city.  My kids had never heard of San Francisco, so I enjoyed reading this book with them and talking about the different features such as the Golden Gate Bridge and cable cars.  Whether you plan a visit to these cities or not, My Friend Paris is a great way to help your children learn about different parts of the world.

My Friend Paris books are available on Amazon and on the author’s website.  I’m so impressed that the author of these books was a published author at age 11!    Now 14 years old, the author writes about kid-friendly topics such as the birth of siblings or family vacations.    I would love to see a map included in the travel books so that I could easily show my children the locations of the setting.  Also, the font was a bit hard for my kids to read since it looked like actual handwriting.  Since I was reading the books aloud this wasn’t a big problem, but I could see my daughter having a hard time deciphering it on her own.   Overall, I liked the topics of the My Friend Paris books and think these would be a great gift to any child!

Come back July 30 to enter a giveaway for 2 My Friend Paris books!
