Sixteen years of marriage has changed our bedroom a lot — in decor quality, I mean. My husband and I spent time and money painting, decorating, and furnishing our kids’ rooms. However, we rather neglected our own room. Over time, we’ve also settled into our little routines like having our own set of pillows and not sharing the blankets. Kids’ toys muddle our floorspace while our necessary equipment (CPAP machine & alarm clock) clutter the nightstands. I guess those are the little things that happen when you’re roomies for long enough, but I still wanted to make our room look like the relaxing escape I dream about. The thing is, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money doing it! By working with one lovely new piece — the Bejeweled Romance comforter from Midnight Velvet — I incorporated items from around my house to make our bedroom look beautiful again.
I selected this particular comforter because of the beautiful flower design. Initially the flower looked silvery, but in the description it’s more accurately described as a pale taupe. There is a definite shimmer to the fabric and it gives the whole bed a glamorous feel. Since we like having our own well-defined personal areas on the bed, I didn’t want to remove our blankets. Fortunately the Bejeweled Romance comforter hides the imperfections of a not-so-perfectly-made bed, so the blankets can stay put. Although the comforter is the only thing we reviewed from Midnight Velvet, I’m sorely tempted to purchase the shams and bedskirt now. These accessories would certainly help the dramatic impact of the floral look. The comforter itself is very soft and luxurious. The “petals” of the flower have to be arranged (not unlike a bride’s train) yet it only takes a few seconds to give it the perfect look. I hid my pillows underneath because they just don’t look the same without the big shams pictured on the website!
Now that the bed became such a bold, beautiful centerpiece of the room, I extended the look to the rest of the furniture. Our black furniture really pops with the pale green paint shade. The knobs on the drawers are brushed nickel, so they really look good with the rhinestones. A few weeks ago while we shopped at yard sales, I purchased a new-in-the-box Wilton Armetale platter for $3. I also bought 3 picture frames at the same sale. Those items were still sitting in the garage, so I brought them upstairs and put them properly in their new home. I used the platter and rhinestone frame to further emphasize the sweet sparkly look on the dresser.
Next, I focused on the nightstand areas. We have a tendency to clutter up our room with all the “stuff” it takes to get ready in the morning or to settle down at night. Books, coffee mugs, and other non-romantic objects are usually taking up our space. I cleaned it all up and left only the necessities. My husband has to use a sleep machine at night, so I didn’t move it. Instead, by putting up framed photos, the machine is not as noticeable.
Finally, I turned to my nightstand. A dear friend gave me a beautiful bouquet of flowers; this was the perfect way to finish the romantic look of my room. The sight of my alarm clock just defeats the purpose of making this a relaxing suite. So by turning the clock face toward the wall, I can ignore the bright red numbers and the clock blends in with the dark furniture.
What a sight! My room feels so beautiful, clean, and glamorous with the new Midnight Velvet Bejeweled Romance Comforter. Confident Style. Beautiful You. Why is it kids always think their parents bedroom are more comfier than theirs? Ours do that too. I like the Pintuck Oversized the color would match our current bedding.
My favorite is the microflannel comforter. I like bedding that feels soft and can be machine washed. I also like something without a lot of print so I can easily change the look of a room. Also, I always get bedding that my hubby would like. I’m sure he doesn’t want to sleep in a bed of flowers. lol
My favorite comforter is the Hand-Stitched Cotton Voile Lightweight Comforter & Sham. It was go nicely with my bedroom and I could sink into it right now.

I love how Midnight Velvet has such a wide variety of comforters and bedding to choose from, there is something for everyone. My heart stopped when I saw the Kingstone bedding. Elegant and classy.
The Metropolitan 10 piece is the one I like the best. Though, I had a hard time as thier were many beautiful sets to choose from.

A definite change with that comforter. Comforters are easily noticed in bedrooms where typically the bed is the focal point and takes up most of the space. Changing the color or texture of the comforter makes a difference.
The comforter definitely added romance and luxury with the fabric and layers. Really makes the bed a focal point.
