Years ago, there was an antique shop in town that had an amazing assortment of Christmas trees displayed all year ’round. There was an upside down tree, which was rather odd. The corner Christmas tree was interesting, and would be awesome for a small space or an extra hall corner. My personal favorite, though, was the snowing Christmas tree. It was encased in a glass cabinet so that the “snow” wouldn’t be handled by curious customers. The snow fell all around the tree’s limbs and ornaments in a quietly beautiful way. It was simply mesmerizing. My husband and I loved to watch it, as we visited the store often just to look at it. The tree wasn’t for sale, and I’d forgotten all about it over the years. Moving into a new house meant that most of our belongings were stashed in a storage building over the summer. When it was time for Christmas decorating, we still hadn’t unpacked the big artificial tree and ornaments that were now in the far back corner of the storage unit. This gave me the perfect excuse to purchase a snowing Christmas tree, just like I’d admired all those years ago!
The tree was nowhere to be found in local stores, but it was easily found online. After doing a bit of research, I found that Amazon has the best price (no surprise!) We got the 6 ft. 8 inch tree, which was perfect for our home. To my surprise, many ornaments were included. The tree set up really quickly, without any special tools or equipment. The “snow” is actually tiny styrofoam balls. Plenty of them came with the tree, and they’re also available for purchase if you should need more. The tree was so simple to assemble that we had it sparkling and snowing within just a few minutes!
It also plays music, which we don’t really use. The music is more of a medley of carols, and sounds rather tinny. When the snow falls, it makes a gentle whirring sound that is so relaxing, the music becomes unnecessary. We love to turn off the lights and watch the snow fall. This would be the perfect decor gift for that person who loves to have something out of the ordinary set up for Christmas parties. It’s sure to be a hit!
What do you think of the snowing Christmas tree? I hope your home is warm, cozy, and ready for the holidays like ours!
Ha! I dunno, that just seems like a colossal mess just waiting to happen, but cute!
Margot, it’s not as bad as you might think. My son sometimes sticks his hands in the snow, which gets it on the floor, but it sweeps up easily. Otherwise, the base underneath catches it all.
Amazon…bringing snow to your Christmas! 🙂 Of course. When you said snowing tree I was thinking of a smaller one but wow! That is a beautiful idea. I thought messy at first but so is tinsel so I can see where this would really go well, especially in places that don’t get snow.
What happens when someone opens the door on a windy day? 😮
The Snowing Christmas Tree is really pretty but I’m skeptical of the possible mess it would create. Especially with my two year old grandson…lol
Love it!! We are lacking snow here in wsiconsin too!! Maybe we should pick one up to feel more Christmasy around here as well lol!!
