It’s been so long since I read a historical fiction, much less a historical romance…and A Cowboy for Keeps made me wonder WHY?! I loved it! This story makes the reader realize how hard it was to survive in an unknown land with unpredictable weather, few conveniences, and lawless neighbors.
I liked Greta’s strength and quiet determination. Ultimately, though, Wyatt and Judd were my favorite characters. Precocious Astrid grated on my nerves; her sickness seemed to be the reason everyone allowed her to misbehave…but it seems like she was plenty old enough to be held accountable for her sassy mouth and actions!
The final chapters seemed to point in the direction of Wyatt’s siblings, which kind of disappointed me. I would probably continue reading the series if the focus was on Wyatt and his ranch.
Thanks to Bethany House Fiction for sending me a copy of this book! Opinions shared are mine.
I need to fit some more historical fiction to my tbr! This one sounds like it has some interesting characters.
