Disclosure: Thanks to the publisher for giving me a copy of this book. Opinions shared are mine.
I love C.J. Tudor’s novels, so jumped at the chance to read this collection of short stories (big thanks to the publisher!) The author introduces each story with a peek into her inspiration, which I really enjoyed. A Sliver of Darkness has little in common with the author’s novels, other than a glimpse into her creative mind.
I don’t typically love short stories. Ironically it took me a really long time to finish these, but I found myself enjoying the variety of characters and unique storylines that Tudor wrote about.
Of the 11 short stories in this collection, the two I enjoyed the most were probably Butterfly Island and The Copy Shop. Some of the Sliver of Darkness stories were more “horror” filled than others. I usually prefer ghost stories, or at least slightly weird supernatural-ish stories (not horror) so I tend to go for the plots with less gory detail.
I have another C.J. Tudor book waiting for me, and I hope that will be more my speed since it’s a novel instead of short stories!
