Disclosure: I received a prize pack like the one the winner will receive. Opinions shared are mine.
A few days ago, my kids asked if we could go to Ryan’s soon. It’s one of their favorite restaurants; the rolls, mashed potatoes, and dessert bar rank among the top of their wishlists! We ended up going for breakfast this morning (Sunday), and it was delicious as always. We plan to go back for our favorite – Family Night – and see the Amelia Bedelia party! That’s right, the beloved children’s book character is celebrating at Ryan’s! Created by American author Peggy Parish in the early 1960’s, Amelia Bedelia is known for her literal takes on figurative language. This wonderful family promotion can be found at the Ovation Brands’ portfolio of restaurants, including Old Country Buffet, Ryan’s, Hometown Buffet, and Country Buffet from March 17th through May 12th. One lucky winner gets to celebrate the promotion as well as with this special prize pack, which includes an Amelia Bedelia sticker pack, bonnet pack, poster, brochure, and 4 paperback books: Amelia Bedelia’s First Apple Pie, Amelia Bedelia Makes a Friend, Amelia Bedelia, Amelia Bedelia Means Business.
Family Night at Ryan’s (or Hometown Buffet, Old Country Buffet…whatever is near you) is a fun treat for us. The family room is set up with activities, with staff waiting to help the kids. Parents can join in, or eat at a nearby table and let the kids have fun! Each night has a designated theme, from baking pies to taking selfies. Best of all, Family Night is a bargain! Kids eat for $1.99 with the purchase of an adult meal — from 3 PM to close. The Amelia Bedelia theme will just make it even better.
Amelia Bedelia books have such a witty charm that will get a giggle from adults and children alike. The stories help children develop the nuance of language. Kids can master multiple meaning words through Amelia’s silly antics. Read these books together and you’ll see what I mean! The prize pack contains packs of stickers and bonnets big enough to share……big enough to be party favors, that is! You could even host your own Amelia Bedelia themed party for your favorite little boy or girl! Here are some other ideas to make your party complete:
Wear something “wrong” to greet the kids at the door. For example, wear a Christmas bow in your hair, and tell them you’re wearing a “bow” (as in hairbow). Let them have fun explaining your mistake!
Make snacktime a laughable moment. When it’s time to drink fruit “punch”, look horrified and tell the kids that there will be no hitting at this party! They’ll giggle when they have to teach you that punch is a drink.
Make an apple pie recipe as one of the activities. Read the book Amelia Bedelia’s first apple pie, then follow with the baking. Let the children follow the instructions, and inject silly questions. For instance, you could ask, “Where are we supposed to ‘roll’ the crust?” as if you want to roll it to another person. The kids will get a charge out of it!
Be sure to enter the Amelia Bedelia sweepstakes, too. One lucky family will win a Caribbean cruise for 4!
One lucky reader will win the prize pack of books and more. To enter, visit the form below. The giveaway is open to US readers ages 18+. Void where prohibited by law. Good luck!
