Meet my newest garden addition — the Greenstalk vertical planter. I first came across the Greenstalk when I was looking for a stackable planter for salad greens. The Greenstalk is made in the USA, specifically in east Tennessee, and is a family-owned business. I liked that it was much less expensive than the Garden Tower 2 that I bought last summer. It also has several options for layering and pocket size. I ended up buying the Leaf planter with 7 levels.

The Guilt Trip by Sandie Jones #TheGuiltTrip @MinotaurBooks

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the publisher. Opinions shared are mine.

There isn’t a vacation in store for my family this summer. We just moved last summer and it was a whirlwind year. We are really enjoying the time at home. However, I did take a mind-cation to Portugal as a reader-guest at Ali and Will’s destination wedding! If you haven’t read a Sandie Jones novel before, this is a good one to start with.

We’ve spent many hours on the baseball field over the summer. I love being out in the sunshine, especially when I have a cold drink and some peanut M & M’s to enjoy! I almost always take a book with me so I have something to do while the teams are warming up. Fallen by Linda Castillo was the first book I’ve read in the Kate Burkholder series. I loved it and will definitely read the others!

June Of Books #Giveaway Hop

It’s been 3 months and 2 days since my front porch was clean. (That old Sinead O’Connor song is ringing in my ears now.) My husband’s recent bookshelf project is in slow progress. I’m grateful that I’ll finally have some bookshelves to house my books, though! Since we moved last July, my books have been stashed in closets and dresser drawers waiting for a home. I almost always give away my books after I finish reading them — books are meant to be shared – but I need a place to put the books that are waiting their turn to be read. These bookshelves are wall-to-wall and floor to ceiling. My man knows how to win my heart!

A Distant Grave by Sarah Stewart Taylor #MinotaurInfluencers

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the publisher. Opinions shared are mine.

I’m always up for a suspenseful read that features a strong heroine. At almost 400 pages, A Distant Grave kept me reading for several days but it was worth it! I loved the main character, Maggie D’Arcy, and her tenacious determination. This is the second book about Maggie, and I didn’t read the first. It was easy to catch up on her story, though it sounds like book #1 was pretty good, too.

A Patchwork Past by Leslie Gould

It’s been a while since I took the time to read an Amish romance. A Patchwork Past by Leslie Gould is book #2 in the Plain Patterns series, but it’s an easy standalone for those who haven’t read book #1 (I didn’t.) You can get caught up very quickly as the story takes place in the same town as book #1.

Worm Composting: Bin or Garden Tower?

Now that school is out, I spend most of my free moments outside. My garden is pretty small compared to most, but I find ways to tuck plants in every nook and cranny. My deck and patio are also filled with plants. Though I enjoy flowers, growing vegetables is my passion. It is so rewarding to go outside and pick FOOD for my family. I just love it! Today my daughter and I had lunch from one of the deck’s lettuce planters. Remember my post from last week where I showed you the pot that was newly planted? (You can find the post here.) It was ready to harvest today. We didn’t even make a dent in it.

On the side of the blue pot, you can see where I snipped some leaves for our salad. The rest of the plant will regrow and be ready for another cutting in a few days. We also took some from the green pot.

Dusk’s Darkest Shores by Carolyn Miller

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book as part of the blog tour. Post contains affiliate links; if you make a purchase, I may earn commission. Opinions shared are mine.

Being 29 years old seems like so long ago. That was the year when my daughter (my first child) was born. Now I’m almost 46 years old and so much more comfortable in my own skin. It’s hard to imagine that in the year 1811, being unmarried at the age of 29 was basically a sentence to be single forever. Poor Mary Bloomfield! In Dusk’s Darkest Shores, she has practically resigned herself to being a spinster forever. Though she was quite likable, intelligent, and very skilled, it’s clear that she felt romance was something she’d never experience.
