I surprised even myself by finishing The Family by Louise Jensen in one day. I started reading it in the morning and picked it up several times throughout the day, finally sequestering myself away in the back room so I could get through the final chapters without interruption. It was that good!

So glad I didn’t read the reviews about this book before I gave it a try. While it looks like it’s getting mediocre fanfare, I really loved it and hope that the author continues sharing Cat’s story.

Despite the late hour, Amanda Wen’s novel has me smiling and breathing a deep, contented sigh. It’s the type of clean romance that has meat to its bones — the story is more than just the romance itself, and I appreciated that so much. This has a dual timeline, basing much of the plot around a series of diary entries. Plus there’s an old house. How much better could it get?!

When kids look back on photos, they often can’t tell the difference between Grandma from 10 years ago and today. So when they notice that Grandma acts differently, it can be very confusing — even scary. The book Does Grandma Remember Me? by Evita Sherman does a great job of explaining common behaviors of dementia, and goes the extra mile in empowering children to love Grandma even harder.

The joy of a library notification about a long-awaited book on hold…it’s like getting a gift in my email. I was thrilled when He Started It showed up on my Kindle. The title and cover are so fun!

Even though we’re not under a stay-at-home order, I’ve enacted my own. Pretty much all I do these days is go to work and head back home. This was my first Lisa Gardner read, but won’t be my last! I stayed up late several nights in a row, desperate to finish reading it.

It’s been so long since I read a historical fiction, much less a historical romance…and A Cowboy for Keeps made me wonder WHY?! I loved it! This story makes the reader realize how hard it was to survive in an unknown land with unpredictable weather, few conveniences, and lawless neighbors.

Ironically, I finished The Summer House just before a winter storm hit. Sounds 2020 style, doesn’t it?
