The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

I won an advance copy of The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle over a year ago, but put off reading it because of 400+ pages. It just seemed like a huge commitment. In the interest of whittling down my toppling TBR list, I finally unearthed the book from its hiding place in the book closet and started reading it about a week ago. I was right — this book did require some commitment. It was so worth it, though. It gets 5 stars from me!

Buying Christmas Cards

Though the number of Christmas cards we received has dwindled, there are still a few holdouts who send one faithfully each year. To reciprocate the good cheer, I buy a few cards each year to keep on hand. Here are some of the ways I save money on Christmas cards (and I don’t buy them on December 26 to store them for the whole year.)

My mom and stepdad visited this weekend, and I learned something about her I never knew before. She’s afraid of cats! Since we have two cats, I’m surprised she’s never mentioned it to me. She survived despite their ferocious ways.

One Day at Disney @DisneyBooks @BSteeleAVL @RobertIger @oaksteel

For all the years I’ve been blogging, my Someday Dream has been to work with Disney. Our family holds our Disney vacation memories so dear. My son learned to walk at The Grand Floridian; my daughter discovered how deeply music touched her heart while we walked in Norway at Epcot. Disney is where my husband is finally able to relax and enjoy himself, far away from the daily worries and stress of work and life. For now, getting to share A Day at Disney is the closest thing I can do that resembles a Disney partnership!

My kids love their collection of Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards!

Last year around this time, I was introduced to Charlie Hernandez. He became a constant topic of conversation around our house, much in the same way as Harry Potter and Percy Jackson have been. When author Ryan Calejo sent me a copy of Charlie’s newest adventure, Charlie Hernandez and the Castle of Bones, my kids literally squealed aloud. They could not wait to read this book.

One of the biggest budget-busters on an airline flight is the extra fee for overweight baggage. Our family nearly always flies on a budget airline, so we have to be strategic about packing our suitcases. I’m so excited to finally have a luggage scale to ensure we’re within the guidelines!

Steeped Coffee stocking stuffer and subscription gift idea #HGG2019

Disclosure: I received free product samples. Opinions shared are mine.

My favorite Christmas tradition comes in the shape of a sock — a stocking, to be more precise. Even when times were tight at my childhood home, my mom managed to stuff some goodies in a stocking for us. I loved opening it on Christmas morning. So, I do the same for my own family.

My mom and stepdad made a quick weekend visit to end their Thanksgiving tour. They just left this morning, and the house was still reasonably presentable from the panic-clean we went through on Friday. That gave me some time to enjoy my book, The Wives by Tarryn Fisher. This is due to release at the end of December.
