With the holidays officially in full swing, you might find yourself playing host to out-of-town visitors. We don’t actually have a guest room in our home, so we do musical-beds when family comes to stay with us. Getting our house ready for guests takes some effort, but it’s worth it when we enjoy those great memory moments! Here are some tips to help you get through the visitor frenzy.

It’s hard to believe that it’s already time to sign up for 2020 activities, but here we are! I’ve participated in host Angel’s Guilty Pleasures Library Love challenge for the past couple of years. It helps me to save money on my TBR books, plus encourages me to support my local libraries. My kids enjoy visiting the library as much as I do.

Big thanks to Angel’s Guilty Pleasures & Books of My Heart for hosting the challenge!

Having a few days off at Thanksgiving is such a wonderful break. On our time off, we’re spending time with family, cleaning the house, and setting up Christmas decorations. It’s also a good opportunity for me to get caught up on some blog posts!

I got this fun letter board on Amazon and love that it has cursive letter options. It’s possible that you can order these separately — if you already have a letter board. These are perfect for tabletop displays or welcome signs at family gatherings!

Deadly Little Scandals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book for review. Opinions shared are mine.

It’s been a while since I read a YA novel that I could envision as a TV series right in my own brain. Deadly Little Scandals broke that barrier! I only wish I’d had a chance to read book #1 in the series first. Though book #2 provides some background in order to catch the reader up to the current moment, it sounds like it would have been a killer of a book. It also would have helped make sense of the tangled familial background the characters were knotted into. If you’re thinking about dipping your toes into these waters, I suggest starting with Little White Lies.

The teens in Deadly Little Scandals are a wee bit scary in their ability to unearth damaging secrets and potential landmines. I like smart characters in books, and this was even better because they were young smart characters with lots of potential to be practically diabolical!

Recently, I was contacted by Illuminate Labs and asked to share their supplements with you. The product caught my eye because of the quality and care that goes into each bath. Illuminate Labs tests every single batch of finished product against European Union limits (strictest in the world) at a third-party laboratory and publish the test results right on each product page for consumers to see themselves.

Who Named Their Pony Macaroni? by Marilyn Singer, Ryan McAmis (Illustrations)

What a delightful book! Kids need to be exposed to poetry, and this book raises the standard for children’s poetry books everywhere. Author Marilyn Singer takes the highly engaging topic of pets, adds the historical angle by focusing on presidential pets, and sprinkles in a solid dose of humor.

SHINE! by J.J. and Chris Grabenstein

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book for the tour. Opinions shared are mine.

I’m always on the lookout for a great middle grades book. Kids deal with so much in their young lives. Sometimes a book can provide that escape they long for, or maybe even offer a different perspective than the one they’ve got. SHINE! is a good example of that situation.

The Piper’s Pursuit by Melanie Dickerson

How do you wind down from the day? My go-to remedy for relaxation includes a book, a cup of hot tea, and a spritz of my favorite lavender mist. Though a book about rats doesn’t seem the type to settle the soul, The Piper’s Pursuit by Melanie Dickerson is pure magic!

Wild Alaskan Salmon oil for dogs and cats

Most people are concerned about the allergic reaction they may experience due to indoor pets. At our house, we’re more concerned about our pets’ allergic reactions! Our dog has very sensitive skin that seems to itch all winter long. Once the heat is turned on, she scratches and picks at her coat for weeks. One of the cats tends to do this all the time, but is especially sensitive to bug bites. Between them, we’re always trying to soothe their itchies. I’m excited to see if Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil helps this dilemma.

When I started reading The Light at the Bottom of the World, it reminded me of The 100. Without question, this is a book that my daughter would love! Between the science and technology elements, intelligent characters, and riveting relationship drama, there’s just so much to savor.
