FaithWords Take the Day Off online Book Club #Faithwords #TakeTheDayOff #RobertMorris

Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book from FaithWords. Opinions shared are mine.

You might be surprised that I don’t belong to a book club. Several of my friends belong to one, but until now I just haven’t made the time to do that. We’re busy most nights of the week with family stuff, so squeezing in another activity seems like the straw that broke the camel’s back. An online book club might be do-able, though. I heard about the FaithWords Book Club and joined!

Holly Lane Esther Necklace Pendant #hollylane

Disclosure: I received a necklace for review. Opinions shared are mine.

I don’t wear a lot of jewelry. Typically, it’s just my wedding ring, a simple pair of earrings, and possibly a necklace. My jewelry usually has symbolic meaning for me, whether it’s a gift from someone special, or a souvenir I bought from a trip we went on. When given the chance to select an item from Holly Lane’s collection, it was hard to choose. Every piece is special in its own way! I finally settled on the Esther Necklace because I love that Bible story.

Great option for black shorts/leggings under band uniform

At my daughter’s school, band members are required to wear black shorts or leggings under their marching uniforms. Since it was so cold at this week’s game, my girl wore black Cuddl Duds which are so warm! Some kids, though, insist on wearing shorts despite the season (or temperature.) Workout shorts with leggings might be a good option for them.

Comfortable Pants make fall football games bearable

Disclosure: I received free pants for posting. Post contains affiliate links; I may earn commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my affiliate links. Opinions shared are mine.

Our high school football team made it to the playoffs, which means the band will be there on Friday nights. Which means I will be there with them, waiting for my daughter. This weekend it was COLD — about 26 degrees by the time we got settled in our seats. The key idea here is to wear layers, but I didn’t have a lot of options for pants that would layer well. Thankfully, I ordered these tapered sweatpants in a size up so they’d have a generous give that will make it easy to add a pair of leggings underneath.

Every Stolen Breath by Kimberly Gabriel

Disclosure: I received a copy of the book from the publisher. Opinions shared are mine.

I really like to read about smart female characters in books. Doesn’t every girl dream of being like Katniss, Anne Shirley, or Hermione? Maybe not…but I do. The best heroes aren’t equipped with superpowers. They’re full of determination, passion, and a good moral code. Lia from Every Stolen Breath ranks right up at the top!

Some scenes from this book remind me of The Matrix. There’s a world-within-a-world, hiding in plain sight. Exciting moments made my heart race while urging me to continue reading. I haven’t finished Every Stolen Breath yet, but I’m so excited to share it already!

Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts

Disclosure: I received an electronic copy of the book. Opinions shared are mine.

I love ghost stories! Perfect for the fall, Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts is a spooky new tale for those who prefer a tame bit of supernatural fun. Consider this as a read aloud, or even as a Christmas gift.

The ominous cover and intriguing chapter titles will be irresistible for middle grade readers. I noticed many excellent vocabulary words in just the first few pages.

I have a “Happy Thoughts” folder at work. It contains kind notes from students and friends. When I have a tough day in the classroom with a challenging student or difficult parent, those notes keep me going. Everyone needs to feel appreciated and valued. This year, I plan to start a new Thanksgiving tradition to spread that kind of joy to others. Thank you cards are a simple way to brighten someone’s day!

It’s fun to hear how other people strategize the wrapping of Christmas gifts. These days, we don’t give exchange many gifts with others. Most of the gifts I buy are for my own kids. Other than that, we tend to give cash or gift cards for anyone else. It does make things easier! Sometimes, though, you just can’t avoid the need to wrap gifts. So in those moments, what’s your strategy?
