When my kids were small, I used to keep a book basket that contained seasonal and holiday stories. It was a fun way to refresh the little library, and also made the books seem new each year. Dachshund Through the Snow would have been a major hit with my children! By the way, anyone else have to look twice in order to spell “dachshund”?

Brr….it’s December, the month where it feels like darkness falls before the day even gets started! Cozy books are the perfect way to settle in for the night any time of year, but they’re especially perfect for winter. Small town mysteries are probably my new favorite genre. I love the relationships and histories that develop when people live together, know each other, and interact over a long time. Even when you’ve been gone for years, when you go back to a small town it feels like home. Everything We Didn’t Say by Nicole Baart has that feeling. It releases on November 2, 2021.

I did not read the book that preceded Mercy Creek, but it did not impact my enjoyment of this book at all. I definitely plan to go back and read Shadow Ridge! I loved following Jo and her team into the Colorado valleys. The story was terribly sad and gut-wrenching in some parts.
