The Temple House Vanishing was the book version of “It was a dark and stormy night.” Think of it as Mean Girls, elite Catholic boarding school style. Of course, you’d expect tons of angsty drama, cliques, and major crushes on the cute young art teacher.

Our dog has trained my husband…and the rest of us. Every time she walks through the front door, she waits for a treat. We all oblige her because she is the princess of our home. I was concerned about the amount of treats she was consuming daily, but never once thought about the carbon cost of all those treats. When I was offered a chance to give Chippin a try, I was really surprised by what I learned!

In between all of the busy moments of life, I love to snatch a few pages in a great book. Usually you’ll find a thriller or mystery in my hands, but I also enjoy romance when it’s got a good storyline. Husband Auditions by Angela Ruth Strong is cute, charming, and funny!

Take the good old series Desperate Housewives down a couple of notches, and you have a good idea of the characters contained in Cul-de-sac. When a tentative friendliness develops between all of these neighbors, it results in an explosive night of What The Heck.

I’m always ready for a new Carrie Stuart Parks book! Woman in Shadow takes readers into an interesting adventure with a forensic linguist at a remote luxury ranch resort. One suspicious coincidence after another, some more perilous than others, caused a few raised eyebrows which necessitated Darby’s investigative expertise. I liked the setting as well as the character variety. My absolute favorite characters, though, were the nonverbal sort — Holly, Maverick, and the Shadow Woman. The author uses these characters to bring about the mystery and solution in a suspenseful way.

If you haven’t discovered Alex Michaelides yet, you’re in for a real treat! I loved The Silent Patient in 2019, and thanks to Libro.fm, I was able to listen to The Maidens audiobook.

Anytime there’s a new Riley Sager book, sign me up. I’ve read all 5 of his book and would pretty much read a phone book if it was under his name on Goodreads. While Surive the Night wasn’t my favorite of his novels, it was a fun read!
