I’ve always loved experimenting with different fonts and colors. When I was a teen and had pen pals, we would trade letters decorated with our latest creations. It was something I actively practiced and enjoyed. When Bible Journaling became a thing, it seemed like the perfect way for me to get back into the font fun. The artistic skills that most people pinned, though, took time. The HCSB Illustrator’s Notetaking Bible is the answer to my Bible Journaling wishlist.
This Bible pairs two current trends in a delightful, easy to follow way. Bible Journaling features key words and messages found in Scripture, which adult coloring is considered a relaxing pastime. Through embellished text, drawings, and scriptural quotes, readers can engage in Bible Journaling without worrying about their artistic ability. Some of the images aren’t my favorite. I much preferred the scriptural doodles because at least with those, I felt that I could focus on God’s word. The only downfall is that the text is so tiny that I have to wear my reading glasses to see it properly. Solution? Give it to someone! So…..
I gave this Bible to my daughter, along with a set of Flair pens. She’s 12 years old and was keeping her own journal of sermon notes during church (on her own accord…not forced by me!) She was so excited. This way she can doodle, color, and keep her hands busy while listening to the message. I chose the Flair pen pack because it was affordable and had so many colors; however, I noticed that there is some bleed through in my own Bible when I use these. I will have to see if there’s a different product better suited to Bible Journaling.
The HCSB Illustrator’s Notetaking Bible would make a wonderful gift for that hard-to-buy-for friend or relative. Don’t forget the pens!
I love this, I have been wanting to do Bible journaling, I will have to take a closer look
tomorrow.

Well, I’d like a bible like this but I have problems seeing small print as well. And I can’t wear bifocals. :/
I have not personally tried this but I have seen others that do.
