At my daughter’s school, band members are required to wear black shorts or leggings under their marching uniforms. Since it was so cold at this week’s game, my girl wore black Cuddl Duds which are so warm! Some kids, though, insist on wearing shorts despite the season (or temperature.) Workout shorts with leggings might be a good option for them.

At first I couldn’t understand why someone would wear leggings under shorts. Why not just wear the leggings? Then I thought about modesty, and realized that the shorts provide a bit of a visual buffer against the tightness of leggings. It also makes it more comfortable to carry items such as keys or a phone.

This product tends to run small. The item pictured is a size XXL but looks more like a medium! I was surprised that the leggings seemed shorter than a typical man would need, too. It would actually be just about right for a woman my height (5′ 2″).

There’s a small, zippered rear pocket that can easily hold keys or some cash. I think these shorts would be great to wear when going on a walk or even over a swimsuit.
