Recently, a friend asked if I’ve tried the Captain D’s buffet in our town. Of course, my taste buds started craving those delicious batter dipped fish fillets. We didn’t have time to stop for the buffet, but I just had to take advantage of their 5 under $5 menu. These choices come with 2 sides, so it’s a filling meal!

Captain D’s Fish & Buffalo Shrimp
I wondered if buffalo shrimp would be as crispy as Captain D’s fried shrimp typically is. The answer, in a nutshell, is YES. These shrimp were the perfect amount of crispy yet mildly seasoned. They were a touch spicy, just enough that I didn’t crave cocktail sauce. I’ll definitely order this again! I got this meal with green beans and french fries. Can you believe this meal was just $4.99?
Everything was hot and crispy with the perfect amount of flavor. I often order fish and chips when we go to restaurants; this meal was every bit as good as my favorite casual dining entrees. When I was a kid, these “crunchies” were the most delicious bits at the end of the meal. They still are!
Captain D’s The Sampler meal
My son could not decide which meal he wanted. There were so many choices. His actual words were, “Get me anything with fish!” I ordered The Sampler for him so that he could try the batter dipped fish, chicken, and shrimp. He ate it ALL. Every bite. He said the corn was very sweet, and he ate most of his fries. I’m so glad to find this meal for him because it has many protein options in one entree.
Captain D’s loaded baked potato
My daughter doesn’t like fish, so she ordered the loaded baked potato. She said it was very good. I was surprised at how big the potato was, and it was truly loaded with all kinds of toppings.
Captain D’s desserts
My husband wasn’t with us on this Captain D’s run, so we used his “meal” opportunity to order dessert. We got the cheesecake and 2 chocolate cakes. I had the cake, which was light and moist.
Total amount spent: $21.95
For all 3 of us to enjoy supper plus dessert, the total was $21.95. I didn’t have to heat up the kitchen, and didn’t have a big fry mess to clean up. It’s a huge bonus that this is such an affordable place for our entire family to eat supper.

A fillet of our delicious grilled white fish served alongside a skewer of succulent grilled shrimp. Served on a bed of rice with your choice of two sides and breadstick.
My cousin and I use to always get their mozzarella sticks and dip them in honey mustard. I have never tried their jalapeno poppers, but they look good too.
I would love the Captains Fillet and Shrimp,honestly,it all looks delicious to me,this is just the first thing I would try !
