I really try to make reading exciting for my students, but sometimes there’s a student who won’t be enticed by any book. Fortunately, most middle schoolers like to draw. Books like How to Draw and Paint Super Cute Animals are usually non-threatening to a student who says, “I hate reading!” Who can resist these adorable animals on the cover? It’s just as sweet as it seems.
This book is a great option for artists who have mastered the basics and want something with a bigger challenge. Drawing animals requires so much attention to detail. This book offers suggestions about small things that make a big difference, like folded ears on dogs, or illustrating on vintage paper.
Draw and Paint Super Cute Animals will be enjoyed by my middle school students. It’s especially fun to see the students latch onto books that have not been made into movies (haha) and in this case, they won’t even realize they’re learning! By following the written instructions, they’re developing meaningful life skills.
There are also good tips on choosing colors, art supplies, and more. This is helpful information for budding artists. Again, it requires them to read and learn. The fact that they have fun doing it — a bonus!
Thanks to the publisher for sending me a copy of this book.
