My kids often complete their homework assignments in the car. We’re on the go all the time, and it can be a real pain to find a sharpened pencil to use on a math worksheet! The handheld sharpeners I’ve owned tend to get jammed easily. They also separate from the base, then spill shavings all over the car. So frustrating! Now we keep this electric pencil sharpener in the backseat of the car.

I love that this sharpener uses AA batteries (4) or a USB cord. It’s super convenient. It does a great job of keeping the pencil tip sharp without breaking.

The sharpener takes about 3 seconds to get that super sharp tip! You can hear the moment when the pencil is sharp. It takes some pressure to engage the blades.

The electric sharpener I have in my classroom retails for over $45. This one is less than half that cost, and has much more portability. I’m not sure how much abuse it could take in a middle school classroom; however, it’s advertised as a heavy duty sharpener so it should work well for general use.
