Excuse the stack on top of my DVD player. As you can see, we watch a lot of movies.
Although we have cable and Wi-Fi, with hundreds of channels and websites, there is not always a family-friendly show on television for us. We closely monitor what our children see and hear. My husband and I believe that it’s our parental responsibility to protect the innocence of our children, which includes the content that we introduce to their brains. When the TV is on at our home, it’s usually turned to a documentary or a Veggie Tales cartoon. In fact, even as I type this my husband and 5-year-old son are watching a mini-series on wildlife in China. We also like to have an assortment of DVDs to play in the van or to take on trips with us. Family Christian has great prices on DVDs that reinforce strong family values.
During this sale, the prices start at $5 for favorites such as Heaven is for Real. My students raved about God’s Not Dead — I know many middle schoolers who would love to receive this DVD! Some of my favorite titles are shown in the image above. Mom’s Night Out would be fun to watch with my BFF Ali. I was so surprised to see lots of my favorite actors who starred in Christian movies. Names you might recognize include Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Patricia Heaton. Do you see a video on this list that you’d like to have in your own collection?
There are collections available for church viewing, too. The popular series God Came Near by Max Lucado (church edition) is available for only $24.99. This is something that your church family is sure to enjoy for years to come! This sale at Family Christian runs from 12/5 through 12/24/14. Restock that DVD cabinet with new family favorites!
Do we go to Family Christian to see what all they have?
Yes, Jeanine — click on the “Family Christian” link to see the titles that are on sale!
We love catching up on holiday movies this time of year.
I am an adult and I think there is so much on tv these days that I do think is appropriate for me I cannot imagine trying to find things kids that aren’t babies anymore can watch. We would probably be watching Wildlife in China as well. Not that there is anything wrong with that I am all for television and movies that educate while entertain. Your kids might love the documentary Building Hong Kong’s Airport.
I have been really sick for almost a month now so I have been watching a bunch of movies lately one of which was Prince and Me 1 followed by Prince and Me 2. I want to see the rest of them but only the first two were Prime movies. Going to go check if their prices are better so I can see the rest
I am going to have to check out Golden Winter it looks adorable!
It sounds like a few great DVD’s to add to your collection. I love family movie night.
My son LOVES Cailou probably all too much! I suppose having a few DVDs on hand for relatives would be great.
Soul Surfer is one of my favorite movies. I will have to check out this sale!!
It’s so hard to find movies that I’m comfortable with kids watching nowadays. I will have to check Family Christian to see what they have!
I am ALWAYS looking for family-friendly movies for our movie night! I have a 14 year old and a 7 year old, and it’s so difficult finding something they’d both agree on that is appropriate enough for the youngest. Thanks for sharing!
You sound like some wonderful movies. I’d really love to watch girls night out that sounds awesome. Thanks so much for the suggestions, we love movies too!
I have only heard of a handful of those movies, so thanks for the suggestion. I will have to check them out. Thanks so much
To be honest, I’ve never watched Christian movies before. They sound like some pretty good holiday movies!

Soul Surfer was really good. Heaven is for Real wasn’t entirely my cup of tea but I found it interesting in that it was based on a true story.
Family Christian had some $5 DVDs last time I was there too! Great deal.
I haven’t seen the movie yet but I liked the book!
I’ve heard of them and want to be a part of their blogger network! I love good decent movies like theirs.
Katherine, I messaged you about joining the group. We’d love to have you!!!
I like several of those movies and Family Christian is a great place to stock your collection. Sometimes nothing is on or you just want a good “classic.” If you only have one stack and it doesn’t block anything, you are doing great. We now have a cabinet and a stack and have started another stack. It’s the time of year for feel good movies and Christmas movies. Happy watching!
Ummmm….these are the ones that don’t fit in my cabinet. The stack is the overflow. (blushing!!)
I understand. We are right there with you, but family movie time is wonderful. This is the perfect time of year, too. For just staying in and watching a movie.
We love watching family movies together at the end of a long day. The kids really enjoy it.
I think I enjoy it even more than the kids. We’re all sitting with a snack. My dream moment…….LOL
These are a great list of ideas, I love watching movies that teach a life lesson or are real and appropriate for my morals and standards I want the kids to follow suit with. These will be added to my must check out list for family movie nights!
What a great collection. I should stock up on some for our family movie nights!
My brother in law and his kids would love these. I’ll have to send the titles along to him. Thanks
I guess I didn’t realize they offered DVD’s at Christian bookstores, but it does make sense. I’ll have to check out our local one to see what they offer.

I have been wanting to watch Heaven is for Real. At $5 for the DVD, that’s a price you don’t have to say no to! Thanks for sharing the specials, I need to take a look at the full listings.
I love Family Christian Bookstore. We got God is Not Dead just have not had a chance to watch it yet.
I have recently viewed God’s not dead. While the acting can be a tiny bit cheesy at some points, the message is so good and the end was a surprise. Highly recommend.
I have Gods Not Dead, just haven’t watched it yet, maybe I should?!
Love movie sales….it’s great when you can get them for $5.
That’s a great selection! I’ve seen a few.
This is a great time of year for family movies…so many Christmas ones are perfect for family movie nights.
Lot’s of great choice’s and yes there is nothing on cable most of the time.
I can’t say no to a sale!
Golden Winter looks really cute. There are so many fun, family friendly pet movies for Christmas, but I’ve never heard of this one. Definitely would be a winner to add to our collection.
This is a great time of year to be thinking about family movies. From sales for the holidays to warm, family-friendly Christmas movies, some wonderful things are on for us to watch together.
Like the 5 happily ever after movies on one disc, I love it when you get a lot of good movies together. It’s a nice bonus when a movie you like is also with another one for a reasonable price.
I really enjoyed God’s Not Dead and bought a copy for me and my mom. It is something to watch again.
Family movies are wonderful to stock up on and watch this time of year. Yesterday, we watched a Christmas movie and hope to see a couple today. Just relaxing with the family. These feel good movies really bring the reason of the season to everyone.
It looks like they have a great variety of great selections. These would make great gifts.
What is also fun to do with family movies is a marathon. Get movies in same genre, with the same actor, or in a series and watch them over a weekend. Great bonding time and moments.
We love watching movies especially those that are family oriented. It doesn’t get any better than when they are on sale.
