I love it when children defy limits! These two heartwarming picture books are by authors who know something about exceeding expectations. Megan Bomgaars, author of Born to Sparkle, and Tim Harris, author of The Book of Hugs, both have Down syndrome. They both have much to offer the world!

Born to Sparkle has a beautiful glittery cover to match its illuminating message. The book encourages readers to work hard, be brave, and reach for a goal. The illustrations are cheerful and fun with animal antics on every page. There’s a special little girl in my life who has Down syndrome, and she definitely sparkles!

The Book of Hugs is an adorable how-to guide to giving the best hugs. It’s delightful and funny while being extremely helpful in setting boundaries. I especially liked the part about asking if the recipient would enjoy a hug. This book would be great for any child, especially those who need help with social interactions.
