My mom is a housekeeper in a hospital, so I worry about her constantly these days. She commented to me that I could be making masks for healthcare workers, but she is entirely overestimating my skills. I might be able to replace a button, but I have no idea how to sew using a pattern. I don’t have a fabric stash or anything. There’s no elastic waiting to be used in my closet. Those excuses feel lame to me, though. How do you get a homemade face mask when you don’t (or don’t want to) sew? I’ve found a couple of solutions that will help me feel better about my mom’s protection!
I’ve been wanting to purchase a Garden Tower for a long time now, and the folks there have come up with another innovative product. While supplies last, you can purchase a 6-pack of DIY Face Mask Frames. You just add your own fabric to use as the mask part — it can be a filter or even a cloth dishtowel. Read the instructions and other information on the page to get an idea of how to use these. I think the $9 price is very reasonable, especially if these can be cleaned and reused.
A friend sent me a text about these disposable masks. By the time I finally got around to checking it out, they were sold out. Still, I will be checking back to see if they replenish the supply. I noticed that there were many other healthcare items such as digital and infrared thermometers.
To find the available products, click here then search in the “Goods” category. Click “Health & Beauty” –> Health Care –> First Aid.
(Update: These masks pictured above are now available while supplies last. However, the supplier has very poor reviews. I am going to skip this one. Purchase at your own risk!)
Don’t forget that you can also find homemade masks on Etsy! There are lots of affordable options. I like these reusable masks — they start at $9 and you can upgrade to the one that includes a filter for $15.
If you’re looking for a mask for yourself and get in a bind, you can always use a sleep mask! Just pull it down over your mouth and nose.
Though none of these options cover your eyes, they’re better than nothing!
I will try to make this looking good
