This school year started out in a very hectic way. I moved classrooms, subject areas, and teams. Stepping out of my comfort zone and needing to trust my colleagues to help me through was a tough move for me. It wasn’t my choice to move but I love my school so I was willing to go where God led me. There were days in August and September that I wasn’t sure what in the world I was doing. Feeling overwhelmed and discouraged, my heart cried out for help. I was so lucky to have this wonderful devotional right on my bookshelf. Jesus Calling was a balm for my weary soul.
Finding the time to read this was a challenge, so I took it to work and kept it on my desk. Since I usually arrive at school about 15 minutes early each morning, I have just enough time to enjoy my cup of tea and settle in for the day. Keeping the devotional right on my desk means that I see it first thing in the morning when my day is still quiet. On the first day that I read Jesus Calling, I felt like the message was written completely and wholly for me. How in the world could it be so personal? Surely it was just a fluke. But no, as I continued the quiet times throughout the following weeks I realized that my heart was hearing what it needed from this devotional. Having this private moment to spend with my Savior sets up my day. It reminds me why I teach, why my role as a mom is important, and how very much my Jesus loves me.
Starting on November 14, the entire line of Jesus Calling books will be on sale for 50% off. That’s a huge savings and would be perfect for gift-giving. I plan to buy the kids’ version for my children. Also on November 14, you’ll also have the chance to participate in the Twitter party, where lots of PRIZES will be given away! The Twitter party will take place on November 14th at 1-2 pm EST. It will use the hashtag #JesusCalling. If you haven’t joined a Twitter party before, you need to try it — they’re so fun! Just enter the term #JesusCalling in the search box during the Twitter party and you’ll pull up all the messages. Just hop right on and add that hashtag to your tweets! During the party, 5 participants will win the beautiful 10th anniversary edition and a $50 Family Christian Appreciation Certificate. An additional 5 participants will each win $50 Family Christian Appreciation certificates for a total of 10 prizes during the party. Spread the news about this wonderful opportunity!
Too bad that I don’t do Twitter; this sounds like a great event. I do love the idea of 50% off though. This sounds like a mind clearing and heart calming series. Right now between the holidays rush and my daughter’s health it’s nice to be reminded that Jesus is always there. Calling and leading us; and putting His hand upon us. Good luck to you as you continue on your school journey.
THE JESUS CALLING BOOKS SOUND LIKE A GREAT GIFT FOR LOVED ONES AND FRIENDS. THANKS FOR SHARING.
This sounds like a great book. We all need to stop and reconnect every once in a while, and it’s good to have a book like this at hand in those moments. Thank you for sharing this post.
Isn’t it wonderful when a book/passage just touches. It reaches to you like it was written just for you. That is God. Isn’t it amazing how he guides us and “calls” to us. I’m glad you found this book when you needed it.
