My son has been sick for 3 days with strep and the flu. Poor little man! I’m so thankful for the icky tissues, throwing up, and high fever. You know why? Because I read Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier, and it reminded me to be so grateful for every mommy moment I get to have.
This thriller left me breathless with some butterflies fluttering in my stomach. I went into the book because it’s JENNIFER HILLIER (remember Jar of Hearts?) and knowing nothing else about it. So glad for that! Now that I’ve glanced back at the Goodreads page, I feel like the summary gives away too many details. If you’re a reader affected by lots of triggers, though, you may want to take a peek. There are a lot of possible content triggers with this story.
There were some cute, light-hearted moments that helped to balance the heavy plot. Main character Marin’s a fan of The Princess Bride, so she often recalls TPB quotes at inappropriate moments. I also loved the way that Hilliard makes Seattle seem almost like a small town. I’ve never been there, but if I ever get to visit, I would like to have a cookie from The Green Bean.
This book gets 5 stars from me!
This does sound like an intriguing story! Too bad that your son is not well. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. 🙂
