It’s been really, really fun to walk into a Language Arts class each day.  The biggest excitement comes from my soul-deep love of reading.  Sharing books with my students is such a powerful connection!   We’ve had some great discussions about Hunger Games, Harry Potter, and The Fault In Our Stars.  Until this point, only my mother-in-law, grandmother, and sister-in-law had to listen to my verbal vomit about books.   There are still so many books on my to-be-read list and the pages are adding up.

There’s no shame in being afraid of change. This year there are big changes in store for my career.  I moved into a new classroom and am teaching a new subject area.  Scared?  Yes.  A little intimidated?  Definitely.  I’m grateful that God blessed me with a good job that helps to support my family; this year, I’m leaning on my faith to get me through!   In her new book, author Joyce Meyer encourages readers to live courageously by depending on faith instead of trying to dispel the nerves. Pre-Buy Living Courageously by Joyce Meyer and claim your success!  That positive thinking is right on track with Joel Osteen’s new book You Can You Will.  This self-help book empowers the reader to become a go-getter.   It seems like the kind of book that would be perfect for a team-building retreat.

You may remember my post about Ted Dekker’s novel Hacker. Dekker is at it again with the new title AD 30!  I’m interested to see how this book compares to the technology-driven Hacker. The birth of Christ has long been a source of literary interest; this novel seems to put a new spin on the type of people who interacted with Jesus. In my busy day, sometimes I lose track of the chances to have an intimate moment with my Savior. Jesus Daily: 365 Interactive Devotions by Aaron Tabor looks like the type of book I could tote around and sneak in during a break in the action. It’s interesting that Tabor works today’s social media into the book. Would this be something you’d consider reading?

  1. There are sooo many books on my must read because I promised to review list and on the tbr list that is just because I want to read them. I tend to stay away from self help books, just not my thing. Historical Romance, Medical Mysteries, Thrillers. Contemporary Romances (of the New Adult variety)–and those are just the genres I prefer!

  2. Gosh – I also have so many books on my To Be Read list. Some are for reviews, some because I can’t wait to read them. Now if I could just speed up even more…

  3. Add me to the list of having a huge TBR list! I love devotionals so that is something I would be interested as well.

I have actually been reading the self help books lately. I will a have to look into getting the two you mentioned. Thanks for sharing.

  5. I haven’t read a book in a long time. I really need to get back to it. It’s very relaxing.

  6. I have several on my list but I am always looking to add more to my to read list.
