With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, this would be a good time to set up a Love To Read family day! It’s so simple and fun, you’ll want to make it a regular occasion.
This family event can be as simple or elaborate as you want. The whole goal is to get everyone excited about reading…but it’s really a sneaky way to convince your reluctant readers that reading is FUN. Grab a few blankets and build a reading fort, or squeeze everyone onto the biggest bed in the house. Provide snacks or hot cocoa to kick off (or end) the big reading day. Whatever you decide to do, make it lots of fun. Your family will pick up on the vibe!
These cute books make turning the page an experience!
Sesame Street: Another Monster at the End of This Book is an interactive adventure for the young crowd. Flaps, sliders, and pop-ups encourage little hands to get involved. Grover’s funny taunts will get giggles, especially if you employ some creative voiceovers.
Disney The Nutcracker and the Four Realms: A Center Stage Pop-Up Book brings the movie to life in a reader’s hands.
This companion title pairs with Disney’s life action film that released in 2018. It’s a beautiful, exciting book with pop-ups that bring the story to life. Share it with your favorite ballerina or Nutcracker fan.
Sometimes you have to get creative when it comes to getting movie buffs to read instead of stare at a screen. Slip this book to your resident Star Wars fan for instant smiles! This exciting Star Wars Build Your Own Millennium Falcon kit is perfect for kids ages 6-8. It’s full of puzzles and mazes, but the biggest draw is the foam-core mini Milennium Falcon model. No glue is required, and the pieces press right out of the book.
I Am a Wonder Woman by Ellen Bailey offers a fresh view of some of the women who made history. I love that many names aren’t found in “traditional” lists. You’ll see familiar characters, but there are also some others to cheer on — such as J. K. Rowling! The pages are fun to read, with various fonts and doodles in journal style, while there are also activities and questions to engage young minds.
Would your family enjoy a Love to Read family day?

Wonderful idea!
We used to do something similar with the kids when they were young. We would all read a page and pass the book around and it used to be so much fun. I guess I will have to wait till grandkids to do that again. =)

This is a great idea. I would love such a day because it would motivate me to set up a visit with the grandchildren so we could participate.
Spending the day in another world 🙂
