Living in east Tennessee comes with the distinct advantage of wearing ORANGE every fall. You see, the UT Vols are also known as “Big Orange,” so it’s a prominent color from September through December. When the seasons change, the trees in our backyard turn to brilliant shades of orange, gold, and red. It’s a sight to behold! So naturally, when it was time to select the Colors of the Seasons item, I went with orange. And naturally, my go-to source for the best fall fashions is Monroe and Main. Any time I wear one of my Monroe and Main wardrobe essentials, it gets compliments throughout the day. The Mix It Up Tunic is sure to sizzle with comments, too!
I chose the Mix It Up Tunic as my featured piece because it works with my body shape. I’ve found that Monroe and Main’s XL items are perfectly proportioned for my curvy, short frame. The tunic is very forgiving, hiding that muffin top beneath the colorful patterned panel that criss-crosses the front. That panel helps to create the illusion of a slimmer shape. The mesh bodice and sleeves are ever-so-soft. Normally I’m self-conscious about my arms. The tunic helps to make them look less chunky at the top. Is that magic mesh in this top?! The textural appearance of the shirt is quite deceiving; you won’t believe how comfortable it is! The collar is a semi-cowl neck, and the hemline is assymetrical. I love that the tunic is long enough to cover my back end without feeling too billowy.
This fall, try to find ways to incorporate bold colors into your outfits. The Mix It Up Tunic is a great choice for those who tend to stick with black or otherwise neutral colors; it gives the appearance of wearing bold colors while keeping the background simple. Adding bright, of-the-moment colors makes an outfit feel fresh and fun. To find other ways to wear this season’s hottest shades, check out the Monroe and Main pinterest page!
The versatile Mix It Up Tunic works with many other wardrobe pieces. Wear it with jeans and boots, or with black pants and wedges. In this outfit, I paired it with black linen pants to help keep the light feeling. The tunic gave me a great excuse to switch over to my orange purse. In order to keep the focus on the lovely top, my other accessories are low-key. I wore a wooden bead bracelet, simple pendant necklace, and orange-tone pearl drop earrings. My makeup reflects the earth tones of the tunic as well; I used soft, shimmery Tarte eyeshadow to bring out the gold tones in the tunic. My nails are painted with a soft, natural polish that brings out the lighter tones in the tunic. To be sure, the Mix It Up tunic will be a favorite this fall. Orange you glad you checked it out?
