Don’t you hate when the only holiday movies showing on TV are for older kids or adults? As you might expect, NCircle Entertainment has exactly what your little ones want to watch over the holidays. I especially love NCircle titles because I don’t have to worry about bad language or inappropriate scenes. Instead, the videos offer an educational perspective that is so very kid-friendly. One lucky reader will win all 4 of these DVDs!
The Snowman–This is my favorite DVD of the group. Making a snowman is one of the best parts of wintertime! I love that there’s not a lot of dialogue in this movie; instead, the focus is on the beautiful scenes. It’s just really a pretty cartoon. Be ready and waiting with a few snowman books, too, so you can take advantage of the theme when your kids are in the mood to learn about snow!
A Very Awesome Yo Gabba Gabba! Live! Holiday Show!–We had the opportunity to see Yo Gabba Gabba Live in Asheville last February. It was such an exciting experience. This holiday DVD allowed us to relive those moments with a whole new show – the holiday edition! Yo Gabba Gabba is geared toward younger children (2 or 3 years old, maybe 4….) so my kids didn’t react in the same way they would have if they were a little younger. Still, the music and characters on this cartoon are really catchy and fun.
Octonauts: The Very Vegimal Christmas–The Octonauts video was a big hit because it had an episode about orcas. My kids adore marine animals, especially orcas, so this was a major win. As I said before, when you show a video like this, it’s a good opportunity to supplement with a related book. My kids were totally in the mood to talk about Sea World after this movie! I love that this is actually called a Christmas video. While it’s not a big deal to call this a holiday, at our house Christmas is the major event!
Caillou’s Holiday Movie–This movie centers around the 4-year old Caillou. Kids will absolutely relate to the antics in the video! The Caillou cartoons help kids think through a situation or problem. I especially like the way that this video features Caillou’s dad, since many children’s cartoons highlight the character’s mom but not the father figure.
