Last year I moved to a new classroom. It’s actually a familiar classroom — it’s the same classroom I started in 24 years ago! Over the years, I’ve moved to new rooms and even a different school, but life cycled me back to where I started. It was nice to have a fresh canvas to decorate; the teacher who was in the room before me had absolutely no decor except for a huge wall-size map in the back of the classroom. We were moving homes at the same time as my classroom move, so I didn’t have a lot of time to decorate last year. I’m hoping that this summer I can take some time to add cute decor to my classroom. A Cricut has been on my wishlist forever, because I know it would make it so much easier (and more fun!) to decorate my classroom. Of course, a Cricut Access subscription would also make life easier. I love to play with fonts, and Access gives you unlimited access to over 500!

Where would I put my Cricut creations, you ask?

The Door

On my old door, I had a stenciled saying in bold yellow that read “You Are My Sunshine!” It got many comments from my students. I really miss it! I would love to Cricut an encouraging quote on both sides of my door so students can see something positive whether they’re coming or going.

The Chalkboard

I still have a chalkboard on one side of my wall. It’s a small section; the rest of the chalkboard has been covered with a SmartBoard and a dry-erase board. I don’t like to use chalk because the dust bothers my nose and eyes. If I had a Cricut, I’d make a pretty, semi-permanent display on that chalkboard — maybe a word wall or a “You Are Here” map for our geography study. Since Cricut Access has over 100,000 images available, I know I could find something tht would work.

The Bulletin Board

I have a very large bulletin board on one side of the classroom. It’s covered in hot pink wrapping paper and a big “WELCOME” sign. I had the best of intentions to decorate it with some hand-cut pennant banners before school started and never got it finished. A Cricut would make that a quick project.

So there you have it, my Cricut Access to do list! Do you have a Cricut?
