The first 2 or 3 chapters of The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena really drew me in. Those bleary-eyed days as a new parent are long gone for me, but well do I remember the absolute exhaustion and stress. I can imagine making a poor judgment call during those weak moments of trying to figure it all out.
I had limited time to read Little Fires Everywhere (Goodreads) because it was in such high demand at our library. Instead of the usual 1 month read time, it needed to be returned within 2 weeks. I tried to blaze through it; however, for me, this book required a slow read. [Read more…]

Wow, I’m stunned by I Let You Go! Stayed up way too late reading it, and it was worth every second.
First, I highly suggest going into this book blind. Don’t read the summaries, dust jacket, or even detailed reviews. My feelings won’t be hurt if you just stop here!!!! For some reason, this showed up on my Kindle app (must have added it to a hold list at some point, but I’d completely forgotten what it was about) and that’s how I ended up reading it. I’d had The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter on hold at the library for weeks, and the book arrived just before the Parkland incident in Florida. I had not read the summary before starting the book, so it really took me aback to realize that a school shooting is at the heart of the novel.

Lately, I’ve been reading lots of suspense thrillers. The Woman in the Window goes down as one of my 2018 favorites!
At some point, I must have requested Two Girls Down at the library. Last week, I got a message saying it was waiting for me. Today I cracked the cover and finished it in one day.
Our school schedule was odd this year, letting us out for winter break later than other area school systems. The benefit? We still have a few days off while everyone else is going back this week. It’s frigid outside, and my heat pump is struggling to keep up with single-digit temperatures. Today, we all stayed in the fluffy blankets and found something quiet to do. I read Final Girls, which has been on my TBR for months.
