It’s been a looooong time since my college days. Longer than I care to admit! Last weekend, we spent time with my husband’s niece who enrolled as a freshman at the college we attended so many years ago. As we watched the fresh-faced teens swarm the campus, it brought back many memories. Here are some of the nice things people did for me when I was in college. I hope we get to do some of these for our new young friends!

We’re doing a new House Points system at school this year. It makes me feel as if we’re at Hogwarts! The program is based on the Ron Clark Academy system, in case you’re interested in looking it up. I’m in the blue house, and our House’s animal is the unicorn. We got to celebrate our unicorn-ness with flair last week. When was the last time you got to sport a unicorn headband at work?

It’s been a great year for books! This weekend, I was completely absorbed in The Whisper Man by Alex North. This book was equal parts chiller and thriller. Constantly turning the pages to see what would happen next, I couldn’t put it down. This story even reminded me a bit of Nightmare on Elm Street with its catchy, creepy rhyme. Don’t leave your door half-open!
