The days are long, but the years are short.
So many people have told me that cliche, but I never really understood it until the last couple of years. Realizing how fast my children were growing, it has been hard to remember that they were once tiny little ones dependent on me for their every need. These days, my spirit has been convicted to lead them in spiritual guidance rather than just day-to-day survival. From the time they were babies, I’ve prayed over them and for their spouses. I wanted them to understand the way that the Holy Spirit works, and come to hold dear their walk with Christ as I do. Over the past few weeks, my children have been asking me to share more Bible stories with them. They love books like Read Me a Bible Story 365 because the illustrations are so bright and vivid. The font is large enough for developing eyes to follow, and I like that each day starts with a Bible verse. The only thing I don’t like about the book is that some of the days run on to the next page. With my children, it’s important to finish an ENTIRE page, so this doesn’t work very well as a daily devotional. It’s better to read two or three per day at our house. The great news about that is that we get to read extra stories!

My kids love to read anytime, but we read aloud at the end of the day since they are required at least 30 min of reading a night for school on top of homework.
