Some people love to cook a feast for Thanksgiving! Turkey, dressing, the works — the more on the menu, the better.
I like going to those people’s houses for Thanksgiving.
It’s not that I don’t enjoy cooking, because it does have its rewards. It’s all the prep, cleanup, and tight waistbands that happen afterwards that I don’t like.
Our family enjoys eating at a restaurant for Thanksgiving.
We started doing that when I was expecting my first child, and we’d just moved into our new home. My mom and stepdad drove down to spend Thanksgiving with us. There was no way a turkey was getting cooked that year! It didn’t make sense to spend a ton of money on dinner for 4 at home, when we (read: I) could enjoy my family’s visit without being on my preggo feet all day.
Now, I realize that the restaurant workers might like to be at their own house for Thanksgiving. Some have told me, though, that they volunteer for holiday shifts because they get overtime, good tips, or whatever. If we go out on a special occasion like Thanksgiving, we try to show extra loving-kindness to our server and the other staff who make our meal special. It’s easier to do that when I’m not feeding the five thousand.
I’m so sad that the Ryan’s Buffet near our home is closed. We can’t use our meal passes before they expire, so one lucky Savings in Seconds reader will win a set of 4 meal passes to use at any participating Ovation Brands restaurant (Ryan’s, Old Country Buffet, Hometown Buffet, Country Buffet, Fire Mountain.) Maybe this year instead of cooking for everyone, you can enjoy watching them pick what they want from the hot lunch line!

I prefer to eat at restaurants because I get tired of cooking dinner
We always go to my sister’s home for Thanksgiving. Nothing better than a home cooked Thanksgiving Feast!
At home! To be with family 🙂
At restaurants! We did last year and I enjoyed it.
We really only eat on special occasions. Holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas are special, but we prefer to stay home for those meals. We like preparing the meal with family and friends.
I prefer eating at home, especially for holidays. We treat eating out at restaurants as a treat, only doing it on rare occasions.
We like eating at restaurants – not on holidays though
My son has Celiacs disease so he cant have gluten so we get food to go from places with gf free foods. I do enjoy eating out when i can.
I like eating at restaurants just not on a holiday
I prefer to eat at home on Thanksgiving. I like cooking extra because we love to eat leftovers.
I’ve never been to a restaurant for Thanksgiving. You don’t get leftovers that way.
Hometown Buffet they have eggs benidict on sunday breakfasts soooo yummy
Clay in Motion Handwarmer Mug – Purple Passion is pretty.

I like both actually! There are some years that we go to a relatives house if everyone can get together, and I’ve had it at my place a few times, but some years when it is just the immediate family we end up at a local restaurant.
Home eating because you can control the ingredients that go into the meals.
We eat out a lot because of our work schedules. I enjoy restaurants!
We eat over my sister’s house the entire family so it’s cheaper than eating out but it would be less work for us if we could afford to eat out.
I prefer restaurants; the food is great, the servers are friendly and I don’t have to do the dishes that night. Fantastic 🙂
I prefer eating at home, however I do also like to go out to restaurants too.
I prefer eating at home.
I prefer eating at home as we can take our time and have so many leftovers.
I prefer eating at home. Restaurants are crowded on holidays.
While I like eating at home, I don’t object to holiday meals at good restaurants, and these are good ones. I always think of the scene at the Chinese restaurant in A Christmas Story, lol.
Eating at a restaurant is way easier than spending hours preparing something homemade, and then being stuck with all these leftovers!!
If I am going to eat out during the holidays, I avoid going on the actual day. I make a point of going the week before or after. Celebrations should be about spending time with loved ones, not based on a calendar. I have been that person forced to work on a holiday, when I would have been home with my family.
Eating at a restaurant would really save time and effort. It would only be the issue of finding one open in my area
