If your kids are like mine, they probably love to get on the computer. I am very, very protective of what I allow them to see and hear, especially when online. That’s one reason why I was so excited to try ABCmouse.com, which is an online learning tool for children. I’ve purchased several CD’s for my children to play on the computer, but we haven’t had success with any of them. Often they are outdated, or the program slows down the computer so badly that we have to uninstall. ABCmouse.com gives us a great option for online fun without having to worry about keeping up with the CD. There are no pop-ups or links to outside sites.
ABCmouse.com is an excellent resource for parents who want to enrich a child’s background in basic concepts like the alphabet or shapes. Additionally, it is very parent-friendly, allowing you to program your child’s lessons if desired. You can also watch their progress as they explore different areas of the website. The lesson skills range from preschool up to kindergarten. There are art and music options as well as books. Your child can play games and puzzles, too.
You can have multiple children on one account (so they can actually SHARE something!) You don’t have to worry about your kids seeing something inappropriate on ABCmouse.com. It’s just good learning the fun way. My children love to play on it, together and individually. I’d love to see the website expand into the upper grades so that my 8 year old would have more of a challenge.
I don’t hesitate to recommend ABCmouse.com to you, readers. This would be a fabulous birthday or holiday gift for any young child in your life. Rather than get a toy that will be tossed aside, why not consider a subscription? Your gift will be enjoyed all year long, and you can rest assured that the gift will continue to help that special child for years to come.
