If you have a special teenage girl in your life, honoring her with a piece of jewelry can be a difficult task. Whether it’s a daughter, niece, or another special person, teens have unique jewelry-related needs to be considered.
Activities
You’ll want to find a piece of jewelry that isn’t too cumbersome for a young lady who’s busy with activities. Many schools don’t allow dangling necklaces in a science lab, for example, and some jewelry might have to be removed for certain sports.
Personal Taste
An observant eye can easily learn what the teen prefers in terms of jewelry preferences. Take note of the metals the teen wears (rose gold or sterling silver, perhaps). Look for charms and other special standouts. Even watch for the length of earrings and necklaces. It’s an awkward moment when you receive a pair of earrings and you don’t have pierced ears!
Responsibility
Giving an heirloom piece to a teenager might not be the best idea. Even the most responsible teens are likely to set aside their jewelry while swimming or showering, and there might not be a secure place to keep their items.
This opal ring is a great place to start with jewelry. At under $12, it’s an affordable piece that looks so pretty! I got it with a rose gold band, but you could also choose white gold. The opal is the October birthstone, but it’s doubtful that any April-born teen would mind wearing it! The ring comes in a lovely gift box.
Good tips. It is hard to know what will be too much or just right for those teenage years where style and whims change so quickly
