When I was asked to share some Betty Crocker cake-baking tips with you, I knew that it would be a hit for you first-time moms. There are some cakes that just hold significant meaning in my life. Obviously the wedding cake is a hugely sentimental confection that tops the list. However, I’d venture to say that my children’s first birthday cakes were just as special. When my kids had their parties, we had never heard of a “Smash Cake”. Apparently it’s a small cake that holds the distinction of being the one that the 12-month-old smashes her face (or fists) in so that your guests can enjoy that little display. How adorable, right? Even though my kids had to make-do with a slice of their traditional cake, I’m pretty sure they enjoyed it! I love the sweet little dimpled fingers reaching for a tasty treat. My kids don’t get sweets very often, so this was definitely a special moment! You can find inspiration for some adorable first birthday smash cakes from Betty Crocker.
If you’re going to allow your child the absolute delight of such a cake, you should also make sure that it’s a Betty Crocker cake. Baking a beautiful Smash Cake is easy with this infographic. You’ll be making a Pinterest-worthy cake in no time!
My favorite idea from the Smash Cake page is the lion cake. It’s so cute and easy to do, plus it would appeal to all those Cheerio-eating toddlers!
my cousin have done with micky mouse and then the kids love it and the photgrapeer took soem great picture
We went all out and made my son an allergy-free smash cake and then he didn’t even take a bite lol.
I’ve never tried that before. I usually make a big cake and cupcakes.
What a cute idea! I’ve seen this done with cupcakes and cake slices, but there’s just something extra adorable about a mini cake for baby to eat (and wear!).
