Anytime I hear the word “vicar” it reminds me of that Friends episode when Joey finds Rachel’s racy book. It took me a while to get over that memory every time I saw the word “vicar” in C. J. Tudor’s new book The Burning Girls.

It’s Tudor’s best yet!

The Burning Girls holds a hint of historical fiction while blending in some horror, thriller, and even paranormal elements. I loved it.

There were plenty of unexpected twists in the story. Though I picked up on one of the major mysteries pretty early on, it was interesting enough to see how the discovery would play out with the other characters.

Be aware that the content might not be pleasant for sensitive readers. There are violent moments, including domestic abuse and sex abuse. There isn’t excessive profanity, but some of it is strong. Many mentions of controversial topics such as teen drinking, bullying, homosexuality, and similar issues are brought up.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Random House Publishing for providing me with a copy of the book!
