After taking a few much-needed days off from the blog, I’m back and ready to start 2020! One of my goals in the next few months is to get caught up on my Netgalley reviews. The first title I chose was The Dead Girls Club by Damien Angelica Walters.

This is a fun, campy sort of read for those who grew up in the late 80’s and 90’s. We get to peek in on a four-friend group as they run around their neighborhood after dark, getting into the kind of mischief only girls in the 80s could. Trips to the mall, listening to Whitney Houston, and telling ghost stories…it’s all good memories.

On the other side of the story, we see one of the girls all grown up. Because she’s an 80s girl, of course she’s named Heather. Though I was frustrated with the way Heather dealt with her suspicions, the story was interesting enough to keep me reading.

Overall, I liked The Dead Girls Club. It had an edgy vibe that turned the story up a notch.

My copy of the book was an electronic ARC with wonky formatting. Some of the words blended together, and the dialogue wasn’t consistently spaced. This really detracted from my enjoyment of the book. If I’d read a physical finished copy instead, I think I would have really liked it!
