If you get heebie-jeebies from the Stepford Wives, The Echo Wife will make your skin crawl!

I looked up at least a dozen words because Evelyn is super smart, but the book is entirely readable. It’s a great blend of domestic drama and sci-fi (of which I’m not normally a fan). I loved how the characters adapted to new situations, especially when biology was against them. The book brought up thought-provoking issues of ethics, personal connection, and what it means to be human.

My only issue was with the ending. There were several little details that were never explored or explained. It seemed like the rest of the book took so long, yet the dust was all swept up in a tidy little pile in the final chapters. I also felt like the author missed a great opportunity for an enormous final twist with Evelyn!

About the Book:

A page-turning near-future domestic suspense novel from bestselling author Sarah Gailey, The Echo Wife has the eerie family drama of Shirley Jackson with the propulsive pacing of Ruth Ware.

Evelyn Caldwell’s husband Nathan has been having an affair — with Evelyn Caldwell.

Or, to be exact, with Martine, a genetically cloned replica made from Evelyn’s own award-winning research.

But that wasn’t even the worst part.

When they said all happy families are alike, I don’t think this is what they meant…

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book! Opinions shared are mine.
