For anyone who has ever dreaded a reunion….this book was perfectly nestled in the middle of young adult angst. I went to my 25-year reunion a few years ago; it surprised me how nervous I was before it!
The love triangle trope was more like a love prism because there were so many characters falling in and out of relationships. In that way, it was a typical high-school drama. However, the thriller part of the story was really engaging. I was truly invested in getting to the bottom of it. While I had a few of the twists figured out — I knew the “who” but not the “how” — I definitely did not anticipate all of it.
I would have rated this 5 stars except for the fact that it took F-O-R-E-V-E-R to get to the point about what happened during prom. I actually thought about ditching the book midway through because I was getting tired of waiting for that part. I was also really frustrated with the main character because she stayed in such a weird situation despite obvious clues that pointed to danger. Glad I stuck with it, though, because it was a great ending!
