A few days ago, I finished listening to Where the Crawdads Sing audiobook. It was way outside of my ‘normal’ genre, yet it was fabulous! The River Jewel by Kathleen Shoop reminded me of that book in some ways.
In The River Jewel, readers get to know a beautiful old soul named Tilly. Her deep connection with nature made her seem other-worldly. Though Landon pressed too hard at times, his interest in caring for Tilly endeared him to me. He struggled to understand Tilly’s way of living, but most of his actions were driven by his dysfunctional upbringing. This lovely story leads into the rest of the series. It’s a quick read with many descriptive scenes that will have you pining for a day by the cove.
I love the cover art on the Last Letter. Would pick it up in a second with that cover
As long as I had plenty of food and books I could live there happily.
I’M NOT SURE I COULD LIVE ALONE AND BE HAPPY. IT WOULD BE LONELY.
Only if I had to do so. Man was not meant to be alone.

I would be totally happy alone on an island.
I don’t think I could live alone on an island–my fear would get to me.
