Today was the first day back to work after a lovely two-week break. It was hard to go back, but so good to see my sweet work friends. Of course, we spent several minutes catching up on the books we each read over break! I mentioned The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides and the ladies got excited; they’d heard that it was going to be THE thriller of 2019. I promised to finish it quickly so they could read it next! Tonight, as soon as I put on my pajama pants and cooked supper for the family, it was time to read.
If you were lucky enough to snag The Silent Patient as a January Book of the Month pick, you may have already broken the silence. If not, it will be released on February 5.
Don’t let your guard down while reading this. At first, the short chapters had me gently riding the waves like I was in a lazy river. I even skimmed a few pages when I thought I could get by with it. Suddenly, the current caught me, and I was frantically flipping pages to find out what would happen next! The Silent Patient crosses the line between trust and doubt, teasing with facts and opinions. The ending is nothing short of perfection. The Silent Patient is one of my favorite 2019 reads already; what a delicious morsel that fans of B. A. Paris and Clare Macintosh will gobble up.
Do you like the felt letter board I used in this photo? I’ve wanted one for ages! This one comes from Obliviscar on Amazon. It’s a bargain at less than $25, and you can currently get an additional 5% off when you click the coupon box! My letter board came in a nice, neat bundle wrapped with a pretty twine bow.
It’s so convenient that the plastic letters are pre-cut and sorted in a plastic carrier. There are even emojis, numbers, and punctuation pieces! As you can see from the photo at the top of this post, the board is a generous 10×10 size. It can hold a substantial message! There’s a metal hanging piece on the back of the board in case you want to put it on the wall. The easel works great, too. It held the board with no trouble.
The letters are easy to fit into the grooves. It would be nice if the sorting box had labels for each section. That’s something I can easily do with stickers. I was surprised to see the number of letters that are included. There are multiples of all the letters and numbers. I love this letter board and will be using it often!
I love it when a book takes you by surprise and then you can’t put it down! I am so happy that it was such an enjoyable read. I will have to look for this one.
Also, how fantastic is your letter board?! I may have to get one for myself! Thanks for sharing it. 🙂
