In my pre-mommy days my hair was so thick that I struggled to twist the ponytail-holder twice around my mane.  When in a ponytail, my hair was so heavy that it gave me a headache by the end of the day!  After my first baby was born, my stylist commented that my hair was really falling out.  Although she said it was normal, she suggested that I continue taking my prenatal vitamins to help build up that hair loss.  My doctor had already suggested that I continue to take the vitamins (since we wanted another child at some point) so that wasn’t a problem.  After my son was born 5 years later, it seemed like my hair went through complete turmoil.  My hair thinned so badly around my hairline that I worried about female pattern baldness.  The men in my family all go bald starting around age 30, but the women seemed to keep their hair. What was going on?  The prenatal vitamins didn’t help and I started to feel very self-conscious about the thinning hair situation.  

When I was given the opportunity to try Redken’s Cerafill line, I immediately crossed my fingers in hope that it would help my thinning hair.  There are 4 products in this system.  The first two products are shampoo and conditioner.  For some reason, I expected these to smell very chemical-based.  Surprisingly, the fragrance is very light and fruity-floral.  After showering, I applied the Dense Fx to my roots which is supposed to create the illusion of thicker hair strands.  Plumping up the strands makes the thinning areas seem less noticable.   It seemed to volumize my hair but also left it a little bit styled; there wasn’t a need to apply any other product to my hair at that point.  Then I realized that I had the Unicorn Hairs sticking up.  For a few months now, the hair right at my hairline has been sticking straight up no matter what I do to try to convince it to lay flat.  It’s very disconcerting when I’m standing at the SmartBoard in my classroom because the shadow just accentuates the Unicorn Hair!   My students are always so very sweet and never mention it, although I can see their eyes stray to the top of my head.  I’m going to be known as the teacher who had hair sticking up, right?  I don’t want it to be my legacy!!  So the last thing I did was spray the Texture Effect all over my hair, focusing on the Unicorn Hairs.  This goes on like a hairspray but has a lighter feel.   Redken suggests that you let your hair airdry after this application process.  The Dense Fx can even be applied again if you really want to go for the gold!

I used Cerafill faithfully for 2 solid weeks.  I really, really wanted to know if it would work for me.  What do you think of the 2-week-mark results?

I could totally tell a difference!   Now the biggest thing that I noticed during this time span was the amount of hair that WASN’T falling out in the shower.  You see, I was catching handfuls of hair in the shower on a daily basis.  It got the point that I had to put the trash can right next to the shower so I could easily throw away the hair.  After a few days of using Cerafill, the hair loss dwindled down to a few strands a day.  It was an amazing difference!!   So I continued to use it.  This final picture, taken on Saturday August 9, shows my results after 40 days of using Cerafill.

There’s no doubt that Cerafill helped me to conquer the thinning hair problem.  My hair feels like it’s coming back!! The Unicorn Hairs are also starting to lay flat on their own now that they’re not spiky little things any more. Yippee!  I took a selfie and posted it to Facebook yesterday (for an unrelated post — this time about coloring my grays) and my sister asked if I had gotten a haircut.  So you see, people DO notice.  I’m really glad that I gave Cerafill a try.  Want to get expert advice about your hair issues?
